Artist's Description
An up close view of a ceiling corner in the Gallery of Great Battles at Chateau de Versailles in France. Just above the portrait of the 1364 Battle of Cocherel, a French victory. Charles V of France and Charles II of Navarre (known as Charles the Bad) fought over the succession to the dukedom of Burgundy. The Gallery of Great Battles, inaugurated in 1837, is the largest room in the palace covering almost the whole first floor of the south wing and has remained mostly intact and untouched since its beginning.
